Overview
The Catnap Café is the South Island's first and only cat café. Their mission is to provide a safe, fun and relaxing environment where cats and people can enjoy each other’s company and to increase adoption rates of rescue cats. A Catnap Café is the perfect way to work alongside other organisations to increase the number of cats being re-homed. The café provides both a permanent home for several resident rescue cats and a foster home for rescue cats and kittens that are available to adopt. The Catnap Café is committed to providing a safe and relaxing environment for cats; welfare and happiness is the absolute top priority. They are huge cat lovers and the venture is driven by a desire to help reduce the stray cat population in Christchurch, and to provide homes for unwanted cats and to promote adoption. All the cats are de-sexed, health checked, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date with flea and worm treatments. The Catnap Café has a partnership with local rescue organisation Cat Rescue Christchurch with all adoptions at the café happening via the Cat Rescue process but done directly at the café. The café offers all of the key aspects of a traditional café such as great coffee, delicious cabinet food and free WiFi. The Catnap Café loves all animals so the food, hot chocolate and chai powders are all totally vegan. The café serving area and cat area are kept completely separate and the café operates under a council approved food plan.
