Overview
Ngā Kete Wānanga o Ōtautahi | Christchurch City Libraries are all about connecting people, inspiring discovery and enriching communities.
We provide programmes, facilities and resources, so that you can access a world of ideas and imagination. You can use our spaces to study, create, have fun or meet with other people.
Te Kete Wānanga o Wairewa |Little River Library is located on the main road through Little River opposite the well known Little River Café and Store.
We have a small collection of books, magazines and AV materials for all ages that you are welcome to borrow.
There is a free computer which links directly to a printer for your use. All issues and returns are processed on a self service kiosk. We are here to help you so don't hesitate to seek assistance if you need it.
At the Little River Service Centre you are able to access the full range of council services and information. This includes paying your rates, registering your dog, making a community facilities booking, or obtaining information about your property.
This site is also a NZ Post site where you are able to purchase stamps and post bags, send NZ and International parcels with courier and tracking services. The Customer Services team are available Mondays to Fridays from 8.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Note the customer service desk is not open during weekends.
Notes for Cardholders
We can offer concession memberships to Hāpai Access Card Holders which include extended borrowing times and waiving of usual fees associated with our Audio-Visual collections: DVDs, CDS and Talking Book items and certain items for hold requests.
Your support person has free access to any paid activity that you are attending.
Standing and Queuing
We are a very small library but there is some seating available for your use.
Level Access
There is no dedicated disabled parking allocated but there is some limited parking space on the roadside as well over the road.
Distances
Access to the library is either via a ramp immediately in front of the building or by steps on the right side of the entrance. Both have handrail supports for added assistance.
Urgent Toilet Access
The library does not have a toilet but there are public toilets across the road with mobility access.
Disability Assist Dogs
Assistance dogs are very welcome in the library and we are able to provide water if your dog is thirsty.
Essential Companions
Entry is free, so your companion is warmly welcomed. Your support person enjoys complimentary access to any paid activity you attend
Difficulty Accessing Visual Information
Although the library is open five and a half days a week, there may be limited assistance available on some days. A library staff member is on site on Tuesday mornings and Saturday mornings. We are happy to spend time helping you with what you need and supporting you in the use of the library and its resources.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information
We are happy to listen and talk with you in a way that supports your enjoyment of the library and what we have to offer.
Hidden Disabilities
We will ask if there is any way we can help you during your visit. We will follow your lead to make sure you have the best possible experience in our library.
